Doctrine of Salvation from Divine Revelation

Part V: Doctrine on General Conditions for Salvation

  • Membership of the Catholic Church is necessary for all men for salvation
  • Avoid all teaching that is not the Catholic Church's teaching because there is only one true faith, the Roman Catholic Faith
  • Salvation requires one to do the will of God
  • Justification, which is a true eradication of sin and a supernatural sanctifying and renewal of inner man, is required for salvation
  • Justification is a rebirth, a regeneration of a new, supernatural life in the former sinner, a new creature, a participation in the Divine nature
  • The justification of an adult is not possible without Faith
  • Besides faith, further acts of disposition must be present to receive justification
  • Forgiveness of sins is required to completely and really remove sins
  • The will of God is that everyone obtain Sanctifying Grace which is the formal cause of justification
  • To love God means to keep His Commandments as Sanctifying Grace can be lost through mortal sins
  • Baptism by water and the Holy Ghost is necessary as a means of salvation (of obtaining sanctifying Grace)
  • For adults, reception of the Eucharist is necessary for salvation with the necessity of Divine precept
  • Good works are required for salvation
