The apartheid and the Catholic Mission

The existence of the Apartheid in the Catholic Mission

Since the establishment of the Mission, the Church and the school went smoothly since the Missionaries wanted to make sure that everything was in a good manor. If we can remember Mission and school were the only places where the Missionaries could convert many people. The school was the most important institution where they were able to capture the youth who were still fresh who did not  have the strong influence like the elders.

The Missionaries attracted the Natives by introducing free education. The Missionaries realized that if they come with an interesting thing which would bring about help to the Natives they would succeed that is why they came with this plan. If we can remember this plan work. But they started to do initially is that they admitted boys only then they admitted girls later. If we can look at this we can find that there was what we can call a gender discrimination, but anyone can see this on the other way. One would ask why did they exclude women in school?  Was that such kind of discrimination or was that some kind of segregation?  We can view this in many perspective.  But what is interesting is that women were also admitted in the Mission school.  I think was happening is that during that time there was a stereotype to women were is was said that women are not capable of doing anything but to look after the children and serve the man.
