Where is the Church that Jesus Christ Founded in Matthew
16:18?
"Thou Art Peter, and upon this Rock I will build My
Church", Matthew 16:18.
Pretty straight forward, right? Jesus founded His Church
and in the same verse He declares, "And the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it." It could not be any clearer that His Church will be defended
and protected by He Himself because He said it would.
He also said in Matthew 28:20, "...and behold, I am
with you all days, even unto the consummation of the world."
Now if you have read the 'Senses of the Bible' elsewhere on
this website, you have to conclude that the sense of these verses is literal.
Jesus said it, and since He is truth, what He says literally, has to be the
truth. We can therefore conclude that since Jesus said it, these two verses are
literal and the truth.
Does everyone agree so far?
Now I must ask, how then can anyone say that the Catholic
Church apostatised in the 16th century? That is exactly what protestants are
saying. Is not Jesus Christ protecting His Church in every day in every century
as He said He would? Are not those who say His Church apostatised, also at the
same time saying that Jesus Christ said something other than the truth in
Matthew 16:18, and 28:20?
Where then is the Church that Jesus Christ founded in Matthew
16:18?
